How can I become a member?

All adults are welcomed.

Attend a meeting, fill out a membership form and pay dues.

Membership dues for initial year is $25.  After that annual regular membership fee is $35.  Fee can be mailed or paid in person at your first meeting.

When and where are the meeting held?

On the 2nd Thursday of the Month at 7 p.m. from the months of September thru April.

The meetings are usually held at the Survive Alive House, 911 Newark Road, Beloit.

What am I obligated to do?

Members are not required to come to monthly meetings.  Members attend as they can and help whenever they are able to.  Everything is done on a voluntary basis.

We request that our members help at our annual art and craft show called Wonderfest, which is being held on 2nd Sunday of November.  There are many capacities in which you can help and this is our only Fundraiser to raise thousands of dollars, which we donate to the community.  We bake and frost 1000 cookies to sell at Wonderfest.  The Cookie sales proceeds go directly to Caritas for Thanksgiving and is usually $1000.00.

We encourage members to sign up and help “hostess” one meeting during the year by bringing a soda or a snack.

We also sponsor a meal once a month at the Sparrow Nest, which is a local homeless shelter.

What does GFWC stand for?

GFWC stands for General Federation of Women’s Clubs.  It is the largest women’s community service organization in the world!  GFWC has a membership of over 100,000 members in clubs in every state and over a dozen countries.  The women of GFWC have addressed the needs of their communities, worked to promote education, healthy lifestyles, advocating for issues of concern to women and children and preserving our natural resources.

How do I fit into BJWC?

  • Participate in club committees and projects as you are able and compatible with your interests.
  • Attend monthly meetings as you can and donate your time for major club projects (Sparrow’s Nest, Meals on Wheels, etc.) and fundraisers such as Wonderfest.
